We are a full service dental office. We can meet nearly all dental needs right here in our office without the need for referral to another office. We treat children as well as adults. We do all forms of preventative and restorative care including: cleanings, xrays, fillings, root canal therapy, extractions, crowns, fixed bridges, dentures and partial dentures. We also take pride in our cosmetic work. We offer invisalign, implants, and bleaching.

As part of our commitment to staying at the forefront of the dental profession, we have outfitted our office with the finest treatment and diagnosis technology available. Here are a few examples of what you can expect.

Comprehensive Exams

Your checkup will include digital X-rays, a tooth-by-tooth exam, presentation with our intraoral camera and an oral cancer screening. Dr Rao and Dr. Brikina will also discuss your goals and concerns before presenting a custom treatment plan designed just for you.

Gentle & Thorough Hygiene Visits

You should visit us twice each year for a teeth-cleaning appointment, even if you don’t have a toothache. We will remove plaque and tartar from your teeth, evaluate your gums and soft tissues for disease, and polish your smile to a dazzling shine.

A sealant is a resin material that we apply to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. This preventive measure protects and seals out plaque and food from the grooves and pits that are prime targets for decay.

Athletic Mouthguards
Before you get in the game, you need to protect your smile – one of your most valuable natural resources! Dr Rao and Dr. Brikina will custom-make a comfortable athletic mouthguard to fit your teeth perfectly. Simply keep your mouthguard with your athletic pads and equipment so that you’ll always have it for games and practices. One accident can destroy your smile, as well as your bite. Avoid the time, money, and pain that oral accidents cause. Order your custom mouthguard today.

Periodontal Therapy

As the leading cause of tooth loss for American adults, gum disease is no small matter. According to statistics, 80% of all adults over 35 years of age have some form of gum disease. Left untreated, it can lead to serious diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and even premature babies.

Proper restorative care of teeth cannot be performed on diseased gums, so we must restore your gum health before beginning dental work. Our office offers several periodontal therapy services, so you can keep your gums healthy. These services include:

Charting and Diagnosis

Scaling and Root Planing – A conservative treatment, this procedure is also known as “deep cleaning.”

Non-Surgical Arestin Therapy – This antibiotic, administered directly into the infected pockets between your teeth, may be applied following scaling and root planing.

Periodontal Surgery – If pockets do not heal after scaling and root planing, periodontal surgery may be needed to reduce the pocket depth and make teeth easier to keep clean.

Restorative & Cosmetic Treatment

Tooth Colored Fillings
Minor cavities can be restored with white resin (tooth colored) filling material. This type of treatment is a good way of correcting a small problem before it becomes a bigger and more expensive problem. When compromised by decay or damage, Dr. Rao and Dr. Brikina may suggest a tooth may need to be restored with a crown, inlay, or onlay. These restorations, made in a lab from fine dental porcelain, will blend seamlessly with your teeth, return the strength that you need for comfortable oral function, and maintain your all-white smile.

Single crowns and Bridges
To replace missing teeth in a row, or a single missing tooth, natural-looking crown and bridgework made in our office offers a strong, beautiful option. A bridge is a fixed prosthetic attached to crowned teeth, so it will not slip out of place.

Full and partial dentures

If you are missing many teeth, Dr. Rao and Dr. Brikina may recommend dentures or partials. These prosthetics can be fixed or removable, and with modern dental materials, they look totally natural.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of handcrafted dental porcelain that fit over front teeth. Each veneer is designed to complement your overall smile, as well as your overall appearance. Dr. Rao and Dr. Brikina will consider your existing dentition and bite, as well as your skin tone, features, and face shape when designing the perfect veneers for you.

Invisalign clear braces

Adults who want a straight smile but don’t want to wear traditional braces often choose Invisalign clear braces. Dr. Rao and Dr. Brikina use 3D technology to design a set of Invisalign aligners for each patient they treat. You can remove the aligners as needed, and treatment usually requires less than a year.

Take home whitening trays
Some patients prefer the convenience and gradual change that take-home teeth whitening kits offer. You can achieve the same dramatic brightening results as in office treatment yields – up to eight shades or more – in about two weeks at home.

Root Canal Therapy

Your teeth contain several layers: the outer protective enamel, a secondary layer of sensitive dentin, and an inner pulp that contains components commonly referred to as the “nerve” of the tooth. Each pulp chamber branches off, forming canals that lead toward the tooth root tip. These infamous root canals provide a means for the tooth to absorb what it needs from the blood and get rid of toxins or other unnecessary materials via the blood stream. A deep cavity, traumatic injury, or tooth fracture can make the canal susceptible to bacterial infection, which can kill the pulp, stimulate increased blood flow, and create pressure within the tooth. This can cause severe tooth pain and may initiate bone degeneration, tooth loss, and even more acute pain. In the earliest stages of this condition, Dr. Rao and Dr. Brikina will be able to save the tooth with a root canal. Otherwise, it should be extracted and replaced with a prosthetic.

Will root canal therapy hurt? Not with today’s advanced analgesics and technology. In fact, the entire process can be so comfortable that many patients doze off. Oftentimes, root canal therapy can be completed in a single appointment. We simply clean out the diseased canal, fill it with a biologically inert substance, seal it from further infection, and you’re on your way. While some patients experience post-procedural soreness or slight tissue inflammation, these are controllable with over-the-counter analgesics. Follow-up care involves thorough home hygiene and regular dental visits for cleanings and check-ups.

Tooth Extractions

On the rare occasion that a tooth may need to be extracted, Dr. Rao and Dr. Brikina can perform routine oral surgery with optimal patient comfort in the office.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are changing the way people live. They are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. Patients with dental implants can smile with confidence.

The implants themselves are tiny titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. These metal anchors act as tooth root substitutes. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. Small posts that protrude through the gums are then attached to the implant. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.
Implants also help preserve facial structure, preventing bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing.

Cerec 3D

CEREC 3D is a new technology that is used to replace failing restorations, broken teeth and old mercury fillings with beautiful full porcelain fillings or crowns in just one visit. CEREC uses CAD/CAM technology, incorporating a camera, computer and milling machine all in one instrument. Using a special camera, Dr. Rao takes a precise digital image of the prepared tooth, avoiding the traditional physical impression. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer monitor where Dr. Rao and his CEREC specialist design the restoration by 3D CAD technology. Then CAM takes over and automatically creates the life-like porcelain restoration right in our office while our patients enjoy a few minutes for business calls, emails or relaxation. Finally, Dr. Rao bonds the restoration to the surface of the prepared tooth producing a “new” tooth that rejuvenates the smile instantly.
