Tip #1
Brush your teeth after meals for at least 2 minutes. Regular brushing is a great way to keep your teeth in good condition

Tip #2
Don't brush too hard. Overbrushing can make your gums bleed & your teeth sensitive to hot, cold, and sweets

Tip #3
Use a mouthwash daily. It helps kill bacteria that cause bad breath & help prevent gum disease

Tip #4
Use fluoride containing toothpaste. Fluoride promotes tooth mineralization & can make a tooth more decay resistant

Tip #5
Don't eat too much sugar or drink soft drinks. Sugary foods & drinks promote tooth decay

Tip #6
Visit your dentist twice a year (even when you think it is not necessary) to make sure your teeth are in good condition. Remember, your dentist can see much more with advanced technology

Tip #7
Replace your tooth brush every 3 months. Good quality toothbrush provides a better cleaning

Tip #8
Stop smoking. Smoking may cause bad breath & easily stain your teeth.

Tip #9
Make sure to drink plenty of tap water. Tap water contains fluoride, unlike bottle water, which can help strengthen teeth

Tip #10
Chew sugarless gum if you can't brush after a meal. It mechanically cleans the surfaces of your teeth & promotes saliva flow

Tip #11
Patients with dentures should still have annual dental checkups to screen for oral cancer

Tip #12
Don't chew on ice, popcorn kernels, lollipops or other hard foods. Doing so can crack or otherwise damage your teeth and restorations

Tip #13
Consume plenty of calcium rich foods, such as low fat milk, yogurt & cheese. Calcium is essential for strong teeth and bones

Tip #14
If you experience pain, sore muscles in the jaw joint area, or even headaches, you may be grinding or clenching your teeth in your sleep. Speak to your dentist about being fitted for a custom nightguard

Tip #15
Use a soft bristle toothbrush to prevent or minimize trauma to your gums
